I teach 360 students each week in grades K-4! When I first started teaching multiple grade levels in short, 40-minute blocks, my head was SPINNING!
It felt impossible to manage all the materials, pack in the lesson, AND give my students time to actually create. I'd have one class knocking on the door while I was still wrapping up with the last one!
Thatâs exactly why I created my SIMPLE STEM challenges.
They are low-prep, elementary activities that use common materials you already have. To give you total flexibility, I provide suggested materials but never list them on the student sheets. This way, you can customize any challenge to fit your classroom, whether you're using recyclables or other everyday items.

"I'm worried I'll need to buy a ton of special materials. Is that true?"
Not at all! While each of the 80 challenges comes with a list of suggested materials, I designed them to be super flexible. You can use whatever you already have in your classroom â from recyclables like cardboard tubes and plastic bottles to common supplies like LEGOs, popsicle sticks, and tape. No fancy or expensive kits required!

"My class periods are so short! Can I really fit these STEM challenges in?"
Absolutely! I get it â my own periods are only 40 minutes long. That's why I keep the challenges simple and manageable. I always structure my STEM time by reading a related picture book to introduce the concept (about 10 minutes). Then, I let my students build and explore for a solid 20 minutes. It's the perfect amount of time for a meaningful, hands-on experience without the rush.
